Do you still look at Rightmove

Even after having offer accepted?

I feel like I shouldn't, the house I've offered on is suitable for me. But always that idea of keeping eyes open as anything could happen.

@Whereverilaymycat

Yes. In fact it was after continuing to look at Rightmove after having an offer accepted, that meant we ended up here. Much more suitable house and a road I had thought was beyond our reach. I love it here and I still look most days. I’m just eternally nosy and love looking at floor plans and how I’d change them. It definitely warrants some kind of support group!
Ahhh floor plans 😍 I love looking at them and seeing how I can change it to make it work for us.

I still look at RM but not as much as I used to.

MzHz · 28/05/2021 17:47

I live in a house I’m absolutely head over heels with

Still look at property porn on Rightmove, sothebys, country life and the feature in The Week.

Spanglybangles · 28/05/2021 18:30

Yep me too!! Moved in here nearly 2 years ago and happy where we are for the moment. I still look every day though. I have family in the states and regularly stalk Zillow too 🤣🤣

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 28/05/2021 18:39

Remember the not so good old days when you had to wait for the weekly paper to come out with the property section in the middle and then phone up the agent to get the details sent! There were no floor plans and generally not many, if any interior shots either! Thank god someone invented Rightmove!

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep · 28/05/2021 18:42

Yes!
I've been thinking about buying my first home for about 5 years! Now I've finally had an offer accepted I'm not planning on giving up my Rightmove habit Grin

readytosell · 28/05/2021 18:52

Oh gosh, I feel so much better now. I know how addictive it is, I've been a regular viewer over the past 5 or 6 years since I bought this place. And long after I've moved, I'm sure I'll be the same as many of you and still be looking!

I know I've made a good choice, but no harm in looking as they say.

fairydust11 · 28/05/2021 18:55

Yes! I love regularly taking a look. We’re not planning on moving again for a few years, but always on the lookout!

sagegreentree · 28/05/2021 19:16

I check it most days and I've been in my house 6 months!

I like to see what's about.

Livingintheclouds · 28/05/2021 19:20

Absolutely. Interestingly one of the reasons I decided on the house I'm buying is monitoring the neighbourhood and seeing that the houses have steadily been put on for more and more - one at the other end of the street for £150k more three weeks ago and really don't see much difference. But I thought it was setting a precedent and the next houses put on would be similar price so jumped for the one I'm buying (of course as soon as I did another buyer materialised and we had to go to best and finals).

AfternoonToffee · 28/05/2021 19:29

Eternally nosy here too. Look to see what is selling in nearby roads and also in our previous road.

ChubbyCat · 28/05/2021 19:35

Yep. Lived in our house for more than a year and still get email alerts for new properties in the area. No plans to stop.

I don't, however, check the sales/prices in the area where we sold two years ago as the prices there have gone up massively whilst we struggled to find a buyer at the time.

Dailywalk · 28/05/2021 19:58

Of course! You don’t have to be planning to move to look on rightmove.
I do think it could be improved though. So if you looking for a house near the sea side for example or with a property with a big garden but not necessarily bothered about the exact location I don’t think there’s a way to search for exactly that? I’d love it if there was.

G1nF1zz · 28/05/2021 20:42

All the time. We completed last Autumn but I still like to know house prices in the area.
I love my house have no desire to move for a long time

Cattitudes · 28/05/2021 22:26

Yep I check about once a month. Not found anything I like better yet.

LivingLaVidaCovid · 29/05/2021 02:02

I have been looking weekly at least for 2.5 years And we completed 2 years ago!!! Grin

Our home is a long term one so I wanted to be sure I was buying the best available.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 29/05/2021 02:20

I'm staying in my current house until I retire but I still love looking at rightmove.

Silkiecats · 29/05/2021 02:27

I look at Rightmove most days and did look after we made an offer. I like looking as can buy lots of imaginary houses.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 29/05/2021 09:47

Oh good, so it's not just me !

I allowed myself some inertia for looking on RM because I had been on it for months whilst looking for a house to buy. We purchased one but old habits die hard.

I've got no excuse for looking on RM now as we've been in our house for six months and don't want to move again.

So, I'm really just nosey. As a PP has said, I love a floor plan.

I've not seen anything that makes me think 'I wish we had purchased that not yet on the market house when we were looking.'

Sometimes I'll see a house that sparks my attention but on viewing of the internal house photographs I think - nah.

There's been some houses that I would have gone to view but nothing that great.

mobear · 29/05/2021 11:58

Yes, we completed in March and I still look. Hard to break a habit! And also I’m nosey and like to see what’s going on.

OccaChocca · 29/05/2021 12:28

Yep!

I have an alert set up for a couple of areas (one being our village). We often go for a walk around the village and I give DH my expert opinion on whether houses are priced correctly and how long they will take to sell. Grin

I think it's a good idea to keep on top of what houses are going for. There won't be any shocks when we come to sell!

SilverFish78 · 29/05/2021 19:31

We bought 3.5 years ago and I kept my alerts and viewed RM out of habit most days. Then I decided to stop, cancelled all my alerts and didnt go on for about a week, I made a big speech to my family telling them all so proudly what I'd done. Then a week later had a tipsy conversation with DH confessing I wanted to move, he agreed. So I had to set up my alerts again and start looking hourly so I didn't miss anything in this mad market!! GrinGrin

Starseeking · 29/05/2021 21:22

I put in the offer on the house I live in now about 5 years ago. From then until now, I've looked at Rightmove daily.

From the middle of last month when I put my house up for sale (and sold in 3 days), I probably look at Rightmove hourly Blush

As previous posters mentioned for themselves, I absolutely love floor plans. I start redesigning them for my use!

Persipan · 29/05/2021 21:31

I do, and thus have just this week has the immense satisfaction of seeing a house I had an offer rejected on come back onto the market. That's the second buyer they've lost so either they're really unlucky or there's something wrong with the house (beyond the utterly hideous decor).

I'm not remotely tempted by it - I didn't really like it when I offered on it, it was more than it was in a location that would've been very convenient - but I do find it mildly amusing.

MirandaMarple · 29/05/2021 22:28

It's a habit. I search all the time in the area I sold in and also where I live now. I'm just nosey, I suppose.

Waitforwhat · 29/05/2021 22:55

Glad I am not the only one! 3 years in our house and look at right move daily 🙈 no intention to move any time soon!
