Hi everyone
What mortgage protection do you have?
Where do you find good deals?
Our Mortgage advisor is not very helpful on this.
Thanks

I self insure so i have 6 months worth of expenses saved up.

Most of the policies I looked at looked as though they would do anything to wangle their way out of paying to be honest.

Is critical illness cover necessary?

We have critical illness included in our life insurance cover, which we have as a condition of our mortgage.

However as @ThisIsStartingToBoreMe said we also keep our savings topped up for other unforseen/not covered circumstances.

As many people have learned through covid this country has basically no safety net anymore.

Seeing it in action when my dad got made redundant made me dubious about the whole ‘new name PPI’.

The t&cs for when you do come to claim are insane, I don’t get how they get away with it. People don’t read it and sign up anyway though.

Have some savings or just get it until you’ve built up some savings then get rid.

We have critical illness with our life insurance and we also pay for mortgage protection for unemployment. We've had to use the unemployment one previously so really useful, it covers our mortgage payment plus 25% in the event of redundancy for 12 months.

I think the mortgage protection policies are harder to come by now given the economy. I guess it's less of a safer bet for the insurance company.

We have life cover with critical illness and a very robust/generous accident cover built in.

The accident cover is because dh is self employed and has a manual job...so if he breaks his leg or chops a couple of fingers off with a saw and can't work, we need money to cover his recovery.

I would like to get life insurance, any recommendations of the policy?

I don't know any policy can cover unemployment. What's the policy called?

I already have income protection with my employer, given I am still young, I wonder if critical illness is necessary? The monthly premium is rather high.

Thanks all
