Walk in pantry ideas?

I have this cupboard that I would like to turn into a walk in pantry. Any ideas for layout. It's not huge, 3'6 (108cm) X 5' (150cm).

I would put rows of floor to ceiling shelves along one side and the back wall, then leave one wall clear along the bottom and only have high shelving, so that bigger items e.g bags of dog kibble or large boxes of washing powder can be placed on the floor. Pinterest have some great boards on this! Enjoy!

108cm isn't very wide. I think I'd consider quite deep (30-40cm) shelving at the back and narrower (20cm) down one side. Definitely have some space on the floor, and think about if you want to store any appliances, like a food processor etc, and where they would fit. Is it somewhere you'll also want to store anything awkward that needs a plug, like a cordless vacuum, or will it just be food? Future proofing to have a double socket fitted would be a good idea if it is easy, eg if there's a socket on the other side of one of the walls.. Are you removing the radiator to make it a cold pantry?

Good idea - double socket at back would mean you could have an additional freezer on the back wall.

108cm isn't very wide, I agree. The wall at the front of the cupboard is flush with the door frame on the left (as you look at it) and set back 28cm on the right, so I was thinking of having the shelving on the right hand side. I can't get rid of the radiator, but will switch it off.

I'm not sure about appliances yet. I have another pantry-style cupboard which currently holds all the foodstuff, which I could turn into a dedicated appliance cupboard. So I'm a bit torn. One part of me wants to put a worktop at the back so that I could have my Kenwood Chef permanently set up there. But the other thought is that if I used the pantry cupboard as an appliance cupboard, I could just whip it in and out when I feel like it.

I definitely want space underneath to store dog/cat food containers.

I think we're going to put an American style fridge-freezer in the utility room. That means we could probably do away with our chest freezer that's in the outhouse. (Old council property so quite good storage areas but small kitchen).

My dream is that the kitchen, while tiny, would be really functional, but that my counter tops can stay clear of stuff when it's not being used.

I also think that space would be the perfect place for coats, shoes etc. Rows of pegs and high shelving with baskets for hats, gloves etc, radiator to dry off wet coats!!

Could you put shelving and store appliances in your utility?

The utility is quite a narrow space and by the time the dishwasher door is open there really isn't any space to move. We keep coats, etc., in the front porch.

@LittleOverWhelmed

Remember that the freezer part of an American FF is not very big... wouldn’t want it to be my only freezer...
Hmm..might need to keep the chest freezer, then. It's ok, as the outhouse is quite big.
