Surrey / Hampshire boarders

I'm in need of some insight into several Surrey / Hampshire areas as we are planning on buying that way later this year. In particular, Ash, Ash Vale, Aldershot and Farnborough.

I know Aldershot isn't deemed as that desirable, but our budget constrains us to these areas for affordability. We've seen a few houses in each area but would love to know what the community aspect is in each area, primary schools, accessibility to transport and shops.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Thanks all - loving the local slang Grin we are on a v right budget. We need 3 bedrooms and a good size garden, plus an office if possible and have 360k max to spend, so as I said Aldershot gives the most bang for buck. I'll be going into the office 1-2 days per week so I don't mind a long ish journey but family will be coming to visit on the train so ideally 30-40 mins. I did think there was a 40 min Farnborough service, hoping that comes back! Any more insight welcome!!!

I was speaking to someone who lives in Aldershot, (I don’t know it at all) and he said it’s mixed in terms of area and that the Badshot Lea side was the better part to be in.

I don't know Aldershot well but there are some big new developments around there e.g. at the old barracks I think, and good bus routes.

We live in Mytchett and really like it - we were in Ash previously and that was OK too but not quite as nice. Mytchett is an easy walk from Ash Vale (to London) or North Camp (Guildford) and it’s half an hour walk from Farnborough Main or you can drive to Brookwood and go from there - lots of options.

We like Mychett as it’s close to the canal, the Ranges, Frimley Lodge Park and there’s a little nature reserve at Snakey Lane which the kids like - it’s good for getting outdoors. Farnborough is fine for shops these days - although as I used to live in Guildford I do go over there a reasonable amount. Easy access to the M3, A3 etc it’s fab.

My kids go to school in Guildford so not sure about Wavell, but there’s a bus that goes to Collingwood and our neighbours did get in to Tomlinscote a couple of years ago when they increased their PAN - might’ve been lucky.

Not sure about pubs within walking distance but there’s a nice Chinese lol, and if I do go out I go up to the pubs in Pirbright (less than 10 mins) and there are a couple of lovely ones there.

So, I can recommend Mytchett - they aren’t permanently building loads of houses as they are in Ash, it’s still Surrey (as my neighbours often remind me lol !) it’s a nicer area than Aldershot and I think your budget would get you what you want.

There’s even a nice semi in Mytchett on RM which has just come on for £365k which looks good lol, job done 👍
