Wren Tek Wall or tiles in kitchen?

We are having a Wren kitchen installed in two months time. Initially, the plan was to use their tek wall, the same colour as the worktops, on two walls - the one behind the induction hob and the one behind the sink. We met the Wren’s fitter yesterday and he suggested to tile the walls rather than use the tek, one of the main reasons being durability but also cost. The latter is not a problem but I don’t want to have to rip the tek wall material a few years down the line if it is not that long lasting or if water from the tap has got under it. Please, could you share any experiences of tek walls, if you have them in your kitchen, or advice on what sort of tiles might be suitable. Our cabinets are white with white speckled laminate worktop. Thank you.

It looks like no one has had any experience with tek walls. Are they not a good choice for kitchen walls? We have decided against tiles, so I would really appreciate if anyone has any advice on tek (it is basically laminate on the wall) that would like to share. Thank you.

Ive got the Artisan grey Tek wall, it was fitted in 2019, and so far no issues, I hated cleaning tiles so a quick wipe and it’s clean.

Ive also fitted Howden splash back panels in kitchens on commercial projects and they are smart and very easy to clean.

Thank you very much for your reply. It is a relief to hear that you have no problems with the tek wall. We like the smoothness of it and assumed it will be easier to clean than the tiles we have at present. I have looked at glass splash backs as well but one of our walls is very long with a massive window in the middle and I don’t think it will be easier to install, the glass will have to be cut and joined. Another thing we were unsure about the tek was the silver-coloured material used to cover the joints and edges. As we plan to have the tek around the window and as a windowsill, there will be quite a lot of edging done with it. We didn’t see any of it on the tek walls in the showroom, so I don’t know how it will look. Hopefully, not too prominent and noticeable. Thanks again for replying.

The little silver strips only really show if the sun (remember those days) shines on it and it catches it, I use a dryer cloth to clean it and a standard eco kitchen spray, it still looks brand new and my fitter loved it (not Wrens) because it was so easy to install, especially around sockets. It’s got a transparent seal by the sink so can’t be seen.

That’s great, thank you. I think we will definitely be choosing the tek wall over tiles now.
