Property near pylons. Do I need to withdraw my offer now?

This house purchase is now driving me crazy..

Now the environment search report came back saying that "The nearest overhead transmission lines and/or pylon is located 269m from the property"

When we went for viewing, etc., we didn't notice this and now we are worried. We are at the stage of exchanging the contract soon, and this new is devastating.

Do you think I should go ahead or pull out?
WOuld you buy this property?

We love the property, but we do need to consider re-selling it in future.

The blue garage is the property we are buying, and right opposite you can see a wood pole (which I don't think is going to be a big issue?) but there are two overheads 3-4 minutes drive from the property as in the second photo (but you can't see them from the house).

Any advice please?

Thank you.

For clarification, if I drive 3 minutes from the property, I can see that overhead as in the second photo, and from the road where the property is, you won't see this overhead.

The wooden pole looks like a telegraph pole. We have them here, no one cares unless there is a tree growing up in the wires, then they have to get it cut.
I wouldn’t care about the pylons that far away. I wouldn’t want to live next to or under one, as I hate the noise.

SelkieQualia · 19/05/2021 01:00

Of course not. You can't even see them from the property.

FuckYouCorona · 19/05/2021 01:07

That is quite some distance away. The main risk is with being 50 metres or less from pylons. Don't let this put you off a potential family home.

Ostara212 · 19/05/2021 01:08

I wouldn't worry about this at all.

GreyhoundG1rl · 19/05/2021 01:08

You went to view and didn't notice them. What does that tell you?

CookieDoughKid · 19/05/2021 05:32

Not an issue IMO?

CookieDoughKid · 19/05/2021 05:33

! I mean . Not ?.

Horehound · 19/05/2021 05:35

No,it's fine. They are just stating facts. It's nothing to worry about.

UpTheJunktion · 19/05/2021 05:59

A complete non issue.

You are well beyond any safety concern and if you can’t hear them from the property there is no problem.

Limilimin · 19/05/2021 09:02

Thanks all. It really does put my mind at rest...!

We were house hunting last year. Viewed 9-10 houses. Every house seems to have something that isn't ideal

Ranging from a nearby train station, a petrol station, underpinning and a shared driveway I would have happily taken overhead wires!

I wouldn't think twice about them

samosamo · 19/05/2021 09:29

I would be more concerned about a petrol station. Significant health risks there, including increased risk of leukemia in children which people don't really know. Even for many years after a petrol station has moved there shouldn't really be any homes built on the land, but in London petrol stations are disappearing abd flats being built. Here in London you have flat built above petrol stations.

A pylon that far away is fine

Hallyup6 · 19/05/2021 12:40

Pylon wouldn't bother me that far away. The wooden pole is for the telephone. An environmental search is going to be a factual document more for insurance purposes etc. rather than one you should use for deciding whether to withdraw an offer. It's honestly a non issue.
