Electric radiators vs electric boiler

Welive in an old cottage thatis only accessible via a footpath. We don't have gas and oil can't be delivered so.we are stuckwith electricity for heating. We currently have storage heaters backed up with a woodburerfor the evenings. Ihate them.with a vengeance. It worked OK in the middle of winter when I wasn't working from home but in spring and autumn fluctuations in temperarure often meanwhile get caught out turning them off and on/up and down. And afternoons are cold in the bedroom that is now going tobe my long term workspace. We are trying to decide between a central heating system powered by an electric boiler or modern electric radiators. We plan to downsize when we retire in approximately 5 years so impact on saleability is important. I'm finding it hard to find suitable comparisons online, does anyone know any good websites or have any experience?

My parents live in a cottage without central heating. Like you, they have a woodburner in the living room. They removed the storage heaters for electric radiators in every other room, and they seem fine. No faff, look no worse than normal radiators. If anything they heat too well - I always switch the bedroom one off when we visit.

That's good to know

Have you looked into Air Source Heat Pumps? Apparently these are what everyone will be using when they ban the sale of gas boilers in a few years time (or so I read on the BBC today).

The only down side to getting rid of your storage heaters is that you will be paying more for a Kilowatt's worth of heat. Everything else is a positive.

Air source heat pumps are large and ugly and we are in a conservation zone so we would need planning permission.

I have no gas here so no central heating. I ripped out storage heaters and I have an electric radiator in each room. i put them on only in the room I'm in at the time, they warm up quickly.

In the winter though [Nov - mid-March] I mainly use the wood burner every night [opening all doors it often heats the whole place - bungalow]... and only need the radiators now and then. I use them more in the spring and autumn. My bills aren't too bad.
