Threatening neighbour

Hello all ( hope this is the correct place to post).

For the last 2 years or so we have been dealing with an abusive alcoholic neighbour.

A list of incidents.

Knocking door with barrage of abuse.
Firing guns into our garden.
Smashing windows
Death threats
Shining lasers and torches into my son's bedroom, scaring hell out of my boy, which left him to frightened to go out of the house.

Police have been called numerous times, but don't do a thing.

We are trying to move but not even sure this will solve problem. We see him outside sometimes and he aims his truck at the car.

Really don't know what to do anymore. My 3 kids are really scared, and OH is worried what is going to happen next.

Do you have CCTV up to show what the neighbour is doing?
Dash cam in car incase of accident?

By firing gun do you mean an air rifle? Have you told the police this as if they are ignoring that then I would be writing a letter of complaint as even if it's an air rifle there is laws around where you can and can not fire them.

What sort of guns is he firing into your garden, and what did the police do when you made a formal complaint?
UpTheJunktion · 19/05/2021 07:43

Is his house owned?
If privately or council / HA rented I would complain to his landlord with a factual report of these incidents.

Laws are different in England, Scotland, and NI.

I would suggest a couple of exterior cameras. We have three Oscar 2 from Time2Technology. Very simple to set up and use, just screw to walk, pop an SD card in and connect to mains electric. They use your WiFi and our's record for nine days then overwrite. No subscription fee. The whole perimeter is monitored

Discharging a firearm on your property or even towards your property is a police matter regardless of if it's just an air gun/rifle

DblEspresso · 19/05/2021 09:59

What part of Britain do you live in?
Make a video of this behaviour and report to police.
This is completely out of order and breaking multiple laws for sure.

We have cameras everywhere, with audio and security lights. He hates these, and tells everyone we are purving at his kids. Not sure what gun it is but it's long one. Police just say not enough evidence. He owns his house. Think his wife is having a breakdown she was screaming the other day, not just shouting screaming.

The other night it really kicked off, so we are living at my mother in law's. So we are now homeless. He was arrested and shouting and smashing his house up Infront of police shouting loudly saying. I am going to kill him. But apparently that's not evidence enough.
