LVT click or glue?

So have been thinking of getting the hall/dining room flooring replaced. Can't afford wood/engineered wood and so thought about LVT. But should I look at click version or glued down version? Thanks.

Just bear in mind, that if you go for glue it's probably permanent. We've just had a new floor laid (click type), throughout the whole ground floor. The Joiner lifted the old click laminate within minutes, but he could not get the old kitchen laminate up, as it had been glued down. He said it would take several days (@ £150 per day) to get it up, so he laid the new floor on top. This means we have a slight height difference between the hall and the kitchen. It's actually fine, as there are door dividers (thresholds) made specifically to deal with this. Ours is Quickstep Laminate and it's lovely. I'd recommend a matt finish - ours looks clean even when it's not, whereas with a high shine finish you will see every speck of dirt!!

Do you think could do the click type DIY? And also do you think it could be laid on top of existing kitchen floor tiles?

I wouldn't know about DIY - I would never attempt it, but I'm not "handy", so I'd always pay a joiner. Yes, I would think it could go over tiles. Ours went over existing laminate.

Click is just like laminate installation wise and can be an easy DIY job, it is very easy to cut using a profile tool and Ikea blue scissors. Well ours was which was QuickStep LVT Lyvin.

Glue down means that the subfloor has to be completely flat and usually needs a scree done to level off any imperfections. I believe there is more variety in the pieces (Karndean) however even as a very competent DIYer (installed numerous floors from laminate, to click LVT to tiles) I wouldn't ever attempt glue down. I would leave that to the professionals.

There are many videos on YouTube of glue down and also click which will help you see the difference especially if you are considering a specific brand or pattern such as herringbone.
