Getting a mortgage in probationary period

Does anyone know if any mainstream lenders accept you for a mortgage if you're in your work probationary period?

The last mortgage I took out this was allowed but was a few years back now and the same lender is now saying it's not allowed. Found house of dreams and need this mortgage!

It was pre covid but we did. Both got made redundant. I started my job about 2 weeks before and dp hadn't even started his new one, just had a contract.

Yes absolutely. In fact, some offer mortgage up to 2 or 3 months before starting new job if salary is in contract. Nationwide for instance. I start a new job on September and was wondering the same thing so looked into it. No issues!

I just did
Didn't even cross my mind that it would be a problem. They just wanted to see my bank statements.

Halifax definitely

It was no issues for us, Nationwide even accept future earnings if it's within 3 months and you can get a contract or official letter stating what you'll be earning.

Thank you all. Very reassuring for me!

Yes, very easy.

A probationary period means nothing in law; they can sack you just as easily whether you’re in it or out of it! Until you’ve been employed for two years or more, you have absolutely no protection.

We are about to apply for a mortgage before even starting the job, with just the contract! I am nervous like you but the mortgage advisor has assured us it is nothing to worry about. The only negative he mentioned was having a smaller selection of lenders to pick from.
