Bathroom Suite Help

Hi all, about to move into a new house that needs family bathroom and en-suite fitted before we move in. We have 6 weeks to do it,

Can anyone recommend good places to buy bathroom suites. Looking for matching chic vanity sink, toilet and bath.

I have never bought a bathroom before and have absolutely no idea where to start looking for this.

Also where is a good place to find a bathroom fitter at short notice? Appreciate they all may be booked up but I have to try:

Thanks so muchhhh

Focus on finding a bathroom fitter: ones I am talking to are booking work in August, so you will be lucky to find one available in 6 weeks

Buying a suite/tiles/taps etc is not a big deal. Many items are available for delivery in a few days

What I would do: ring LOTS of bathroom fitters (like 10, if you want 3 quotes. I have spoken to 6, & had 1 give me a price which took a month to get).

Then work out what bathroom you want (while waiting for the appointments). Go to a showroom as you will need to climb into the baths etc

Expect that you would pay 4-4.5k labour, 2-3k materials for family bathroom (this is London price), probably bit less for en suite, & definitely a saving to do both

What price range are you looking at for your bathroom? I’ve looked at Wickes, at both budget & premium showrooms: the showrooms were much better. The bathroom fitters will be able to tell you what showrooms are good, where they can get discounts, & most importantly what can work in your space (sizes for bath & shower, any plumbing constraints)

If you don’t have possession of the house yet, it’s possible you will struggle to get people to come and quote

Go on the local Facebook page, check a trade, my builder and find a fitter. Generally good ones are very booked up. And then get them round to look before you buy. Sometimes it’s not quite as simple as directly replacing as the pipe work could be old or leaking.

The fixtures you can buy and it’s next day delivery. Things like Victoria plumb etc, but don’t buy anything till you’ve the fitter round and quoted and had a look.

Bloody hell, labour is about £2k in my area of Wales for a family bathroom refit. I've used Victoria Plum for mine, and DBS Bathrooms for my walls and flooring (not yet fitted so can't comment on the quality yet unfortunately! Depends on your budget really, Wickes are reliable.

With Victoria Plum they tell you what other parts you need when you add it to the basket like waste pipes etc which was useful for me for a list.

Find a fitter, they usually have trade accounts etc. We have recently had an extra shower added, he brought all the items we needed and inc them in his quote. Very happy with the job. All of them are busy, not sure if 6 wks will be doable though, good luck.

The fitting price depends on the work required. We paid about 5k or so for ours, but all the pipe work needed replacing and the floor replaced nd the bathroom retiled.

I think thr op is just hoping to switch new for old, but it’s not often that simple, as a dated bathroom suite may indicate old pipework , that also needs replacing.

I’ve got 2 quotes recently for replacing bathrooms. 1 fitter is available in November, the other early August!! So I think availability of trades is your biggest concern at the moment. Definitely go for a recommendation though, rather than someone who is immediately available.

Had quote yesterday for £9k for complete gut and refit. Second week of September is earliest to fit. After calling 10 and 3 getting back to me, this was only quote I got!! Good Luck xx

I echo what others are saying - anyone that’s decent is likely to be already booked up. People are redoing bathrooms and kitchens rather than going on holiday this year!

Can you change your approach and move in with the current bathrooms? Will give you a bit of breathing space
