Help me to choose the layout of my new reception rooms

I am buying a smallish Victorian terrace which has had the reception rooms opened up. There is a modern gas fireplace in the living room area at the front of the house and the chimney breast has been removed in the dining area. For structural reasons, I am going to reinstate the chimney breast.

Now here is the fun/difficult part: I think that the most sensible approach that will most enhance the value of the house and the aesthetic sense of the room is to remove the modern fireplace and to put in matching salvaged fire surrounds (probably the classic marble).

Question 1: do you agree?

Both fireplaces will be restored to working order. My first inclination is to put a gas stove that looks like a woodburner into the living room. Should I then put a real woodburner into the dining room? Or a more classic fireplace? Or just save money and tile the inside of it? Or classic fireplaces in both rooms so that they match?

Question 2: what would you do???

I can attach photos later if that would help

I think if money was no object I’d have matching traditional fireplaces. If I could avoid reinstalling the chimney breast in dining room I would though, working around chimney alcoves can be annoying for fitting furniture etc! I know some people love theirs but I thought wood burning stoves were v bad for environment? May be wrong. But not sure installing one good idea if they may get banned soon- also aesthetically think it would be better if there are two fireplaces that they both match.

@Cyberworrier For logistical reasons, it is very difficult to avoid reinstalling the chimney breast. It is my last choice, but now that I have accepted that it has to be done, I am excited about making the room look fabulous.

Thanks for your views - I can see that the matching traditional fireplaces may be the best. I am struggling with the question whether it is too matchy matchy, or whether the wood burning stove look will remain en vogue.

I also agree on the question of whether wood burners will still be allowed in the near to medium term future. I'm in Zone 4 of London.

There is a fireplace shop on Essex Road, they specialise in restorations and the woman will give excellent advice about the look, feel and practicalities

@TheWashingMachine
Oh, thanks. Maybe I can pop into Criterion to look for furnishings for my new house while I am in the area!

@TheWashingMachine I'm actually not seeing this on Google Maps. There is The Better Hearth on Holloway Road and the London Stove Company on Essex Road. Is it one of those?

It's also a reclamation place
