What colour rendering and double glazing?

In a bit of a pickle with rendering and was hoping you can help. I have a 1930s semi which is currently covered in painted pebble dash. I’m having this removed and rendered as well as the brown double glazing replaced.

I love classic clean looks and my home indoors is decorated in clean neutral colours.

I’d love to go for white double glazing but what colour rendering and drainpipes etc?

This picture is similar to what my house shape/size is. Thank you

It looks like you've picked your dream colour scheme there.

Black and white (the grey door looks weird in that photo) looks good.

I think render can look good painted ochre. Or personal favourite light sage green.

I think there's a process where you paint colour onto wet plaster and the result is patchier (in a good way).

Thank you. The picture is not my house- just a similar shape and size.

Would white double glazing on white rendering be too much for a small house?

I’ll be going for a sage green or pastel pink front door.

Some regions have traditional colours for render.

What region are you?

Also, consider the colour of the house next door.

White rendering can look very stark. We have pearl white and anthracite grey windows (they are white inside)

We've just had Limestone white Krend with anthracite windows and black gutters/drainpipes. Very happy with it.

I like white with anthrocyte

I’m in Yorkshire. The house adjoining mine has a custard colour render.

I think white render and grey windows looks nice but I’m wanting a less modern look.

We've been looking at houses and have actually started to veto houses with grey/dark upvc, it's starting to look very dated, but from the amount going in I must be the only person that feels it.

I think the original picture is gorgeous, black and white goes well with a period house, I find it bright rather than stark.

Rosieredapples · 10/05/2021 06:59

I like the original photo the best the white looks clean and sharp, contrasted to the black.
Lots of anthracite windows going up around here too and I also think it's a trend and they are looking dated already.
On newer build houses the anthracite looks ok but on older and period properties I think it doesn't suit.

MimiSunshine · 10/05/2021 09:30

A few houses near me have had stone coloured or pale French grey windows put in and that looks really nice.

I’m not a fan of dark anthracite grey, I’d actually rather black which I think looks much nicer and sharper.

This blog has some great tips for choosing windows to match houses.
In your case I’d probably go for white with a slightly darker or off white render (so it doesn’t clash whites) And let the statement door do the talking

5 houses up just had theirs rendered a lovely creamy pale yellow, and has mid to light grey frames, with a light sage green door. Looks very tasteful. It's a slightly older/different style semi than yours.
