Anyone who saw my post on middle room issues - I returned to the house and have decided against it.
So we missed out on a house last week to cash buyers (I'm about to exchange but crucially, haven't yet, when I do I will be in a better position and I'm not getting a mortgage). House was only on the market for two days.
Anyway, saw similar house on a parallel street. I think overpriced slighty as whereas the other house had a newish and lovely kitchen, this one is dated. Anyway it had the same 'feel'. Only real issue is it's on the far end of the street. The house values are consistent no matter which end, but the other end is closer to the park, shops and tube station we need to get to every day (this end closer to a train station, but not one that goes in to central London). We are talking about a quarter mile difference. One of my things is I want to be walking distance to shops and tube, and I know its just maybe ten minutes, but that extra ten minutes might make me take the car rather than walk. My daughter will have to leave bang on 7.30 to get the tube to school on time if walking, but in reality I can see I'll be giving her a lift to the station as neither of us are great at mornings!
Would a quarter mile extra distance make any difference to you or am I just being lazy? I'm in a bit of a time crunch as about to be homeless and we are currently living 70 miles away - now that would be too long a commute to school! Otherwise I might have waited for another house to come on.
