Ordnance maps - geeky question

Sorry all, major major geek alert here!!

Was looking at the old ordnance maps and spotted that my house (or the section where my row of terraces would be) is an unshaded block. Other parts of the street are shaded. On nearby streets part of the street is shaded. I'm wondering whether the shaded areas notates built houses and unshaded where houses were not yet built.

It's funny because most of the houses on my street were built around 1900 and the map supports this. But its unshaded where my hiuse is even until 1930s. Abd there are small details that are different on my Row than the others now that i think of it. That's a big difference! The insurance might care about that!

So, just wondering whether anyone knows....

In case you all want to geek out(!) maps.nls.uk/geo/find/#zoom=11.073190437723584&lat=51.51803&lon=-0.11077&layers=102&b=1&z=0&point=51.47990,-0.17685

Sorry I can't help with the map question, but if you are interested in finding out more about your property it may be possible to get hold of the original deeds for the property - if you do not already have them - which will show when it was sold for the very first time (I would assume that would be soon after it was built).

The details of how to do this are available on the gov.uk website here:-

www.gov.uk/get-information-about-property-and-land/copies-of-deeds

You need to pay £3 to get the title register and that will show if the Land Registry holds a copy of your deeds.

If it does then it costs £7 to get hold of each document listed on the title register.

Thanks. I just looked. Curiously it says the church sold the house to someone in 1958.

It's bizarre because it looks late victorian and other sections of terraces are indeed there on the map in 1912 (but not in 1864). 50 years later though? It's a weird one. I ought to amend my insurance......

the map might not have had a major revision for many years.

revision dates are printed on it (somewhere)

My solicitor said almost certainly 1930s.

Thx all.
