I think that Aldi tools are really good. Good quality, good price and the electrical things gave a 3yr warranty which is quite unusual.

But of course they're not always on offer. If you're likely to buy flatpack, make sure you get a screwdriver that does hexagon screws. Consider also the ones where you get a battery th% works on various different tools. Again, Aldi have this but other brands do too.

Look on screwfix and toolstation

These days it’s better to invest in one brand that you can switch the battery between. I use Ryobi but hear good things about Aldi.

I have the Bosch IXO VI Cordless Screwdriver which I love, and it packs away nice and neatly, but I've only used it for flatpack so far.

We are midway through our second refurb and I would recommend Makita. We bought an impact driver and it is the best tool we have ever bought. If someone asked me to choose between the driver and my kids I am not sure who would win.

I have De Walt stuff. You can get a really decent drill / impact driver set for about £120, including 2 batteries, then buy body-only for things like your multitool. For flat pack, unless you’ve got excellent trigger control, don’t use an impact driver - it’s worth having a small electric screwdriver for that. Erbauer, B&Q/Screwfix’s own brand is pretty decent for stuff you will only use occasionally, like a mitre saw (although always check the angles - it might not be perfect out of the box) or an electric tile cutter.
