Where might do nice yet tough tiles, esp. wood effect?

Just that really, I've just come back from an uninspiring visit to the local Topp's Tiles, I have in the past sent off for samples on t'internet, but I just look at everything and think,
"Do I really want this for decades? Or indeed at all?".
Sigh.
I liked the real marble! But apparently it has to be faffed with every five mins. I suspect that rules it out for us...

Not a fan of metro tiles as am old enough to a) be reminded of old public conveniences and b) think the less grout, the better.

Was thinking marble effect tiles on wall with wood effect for floor and niches, but all the wood style tiles just look as fake as they are - that vague orangey cast to the colour etc.

Do people really put marble in the kitchen?

I have this in kitchen /diner /family room

Its not at all orange, its a little cooler toned than the images but definitely not greyish
Absolutely delighted with it. (apart from we used the flexi grout the tiler wanted rather than the resin stuff supplier recommended and it is abit grubby)
They will send samples

We have real marble in our bathroom and it is really easy to care for. We sealed it with lithofin when if was originally laid 3 years ago but have done nothing since and it still looks like new. We got it from here

If you use it on the walls you really need backerboard as it is quite heavy and I don't think plasterboard supports it.

Crown Tiles have tiled the walls and floors of a lot of my kitchens, bathrooms and balconies. Nice range and really good quality.

Never have seen the point of a wood effect tile, though. Even really expensive ones rarely look quite enough like wood for it to be effective.

These look so realistic that we have had people double take when realising they are tiles/workmen telling other not to scratch the wood etc. We also got a painted wood effect one for our bathroom to go over underfloor heating.

We've just had this put down in the kitchen and I love it...
