Heating a renovated abs extended house

We're on the verge of getting planning permission for our project and I'm still unsure about heating.

There isn't any natural gas being piped to this property and it's currently got an LPG tank.

It will eventually be a 3'story property with a bath/shower room on every floor.

I've considered oil but a friend who's a heating engineer has told me that it's problematic. We cannot have Ground source heat pump (don't have the land nor the depth) but we are looking at Air Source heat pumps. I'm concerned that this alone won't do the job. I'm aware that the pump will work best with UFH but what about the rest of the property?

Does anyone have advice for me please.

We are in a 3 storey house, 2 bathrooms, and have oil. Why would it be problematic?

We'd have loved an air source heat pump - but it's an old house and the guy told us not to bother - great for well insulated houses.

We were told that moisture could easily get into the tank/pipe during delivery, which then makes the boiler malfunction. Boiler companies don't take responsibility for it and won't deal with the issue without expensive call outs ?

I've asked before on MN and like you, no oil user has encountered this type of problem.

That said, if we can get a form of heating that saves us money in the long term, it seems nuts to not go for it.

I’ve never heard of that problem with oil boilers, and we lived off the gas grid for years, most of our neighbours were on oil.

We installed a log and then a wood pellet biomass boiler in our old house. It was costly to install, but we were entitled to the Renewable Heat Incentive which paid back the install cost (and more) over the following seven years. I think the scheme is still open, so worth looking into. You do need to be able to store the pellets though, in a garage or outhouse.
