Miffed At Losing Out On House

Vent.

Well, that’s being polite. I’m extremely fucked off Angry I loved it so much. Offer was accepted but then there was a change in circumstances so it was pulled off the market. Nothing to do with the house, it was the marital situation.

I need to shift my backside and quickly, as mine is sale agreed. Just worried I’ll now keep comparing any other viewings to the one I lost.

Pls fill me with hope that you can find another, having missed out on the dream one!

I had an offer accepted on a house- I had met the sellers, survey done etc. I had redesigned the house in my mind, parked there and walked the kids to school so they'd get used to the route, only for the sellers to pull out last minute (turns out the wife wasn't emotionally ready to sell). I got a better and cheaper house afterwards (and they eventually sold it two years later for £15k less).
Currently I've been waiting well over two months for my seller to find an ongoing purchase. I was told she'd would rent. So I again redesigned the house, got tile samples in, picked furniture, wallpaper, sourced a builder... and here I am still waiting with no reassurance from the agent that she still intends to sell (in fact they have started sending me other listings). But everything is being compared to this one house and not measuring up. But I'm sure I'll find one I like just as much, and this time the chain better be complete!

Sorry to hear they pricked your bubble. We had similar happen to us - sale agreed, mentally moved in, vendors decided they didn’t want to sell after all. I’m still heartbroken 3 weeks down the line and nothing else has come close to that house, but I am finally starting to let go. People keep telling me to relax, that my dream house will come to me when the time is right. I want to punch them. I feel foolish for letting myself get so carried away.

My dream house might be about to fall apart, they want to change the (signed) contract to something that would be a dealbreaker for us.
I’ve got cabitnetry, fencing and interior designers booked in for next week. We’ve told the kids. I joined the local playgroup.
It’s devastating!

We lost a lovely house. Nothing measured up, took us a couple of months to find another. New house is not as nice as old house, but ticks the boxes we need it to and is definitely better than where we currently live.

Sorry I couldn't offer a more reassuring story.

i feel your pain!!
we have been looking for over 1 year for a house.
we found one that was perfect but needed about 100-200k of work
it was priced at £275k....but over 70 people viewed the property in 1 weekend!! so the estate agents put it to best and final offers.
we offered £330k as we really wanted the property and knew we could do alot ourselves and do things gradually as it would be our forever home..
we got a call saying sorry the seller didnt pick you but chose to go with someone else.
the impression i got when questioning the estate agent is that the seller went with a cash buyer for close to their £275k asking price.
which i was shocked at....me and my husband felt it was all a little dodgy

We viewed a house last may shortly after starting our search in feb (yep, it’s been a while!) and thought it was overpriced at the time (it had been on the market unsold since summer 2019) so didn’t increase our offer. It sold shortly afterwards for what we considered to be an insane price.

We would now happily pay that in a heartbeat, and then some! Sigh!

Oh god this probably isn't the best thread to be reading! We are meant to be exchanging tomorrow (I have everything crossed)
OP that house wasn't meant to be.. you will find something better!!!

same!!! i started around February 2020!!! at the time my budget was £325k so its was a bit hard to find what we needed. if i would have had my new budget (£400k) then i could have brought my dream home. not now though!! :( but having said that the market is really slow and suddenly alot is coming back on the market or is getting reduced...so fingers crossed we all find something soon :)
