Stand-alone Oven/Cooker - How Can I ‘Seal’ It Up?

Please help! I’ve just moved to a rented flat which is lovely but the kitchen really lets it down. One of the things driving me insane is the stand-alone cooker. Firstly, any suggestions for cleaning up the narrow bits at either side and down behind it gratefully received (moving it doesn’t seem to be an option). But secondly - and most importantly - what can I do (or get a handyman to do) to close the gaps so that no food gets down the side again? It’s a glass hob so no flames to worry about but obviously there are vent holes at the back for the oven. I’ll love you forever if you can help me solve this!

Something like these for the sides? (It's from the US but I'm assuming there are UK equivalents) www.google.com/amp/s/www.buzzfeed.com/amphtml/nataliebrown/capparis-stove-counter-gap-cover

Ooh @UnconsideredTrifles I think it might be those I need! The gap’s quite big but they might come in different widths. Thanks! Smile

I couldn't find any to fit when I had this problem, so I made my own quite easily from a length of pvc angled trim and self adhesive magnetic tape. They stayed on my dual fuel range cooker for 2 or 3 years without any problems.

The usual problem is wrong size cooker for the opening but if it's the landlords appliance you're stuck with it.
Otherwise the gap can be closed with some wooden batten or plastic profile.
Also you can attach end trims to the worktop that help stop the crumbs flying off.

Cookers can normally be moved by lifting the front slightly and it then rolls forward on wheels at the back.

I’ve just seen the new posts! Thanks @MangeTrout and @NotMeNoNo.

I’ve bought some of those strips which I’ll try to work with somehow for now (they aren’t great). Longer term I might have a crack at something better. What a palaver. Smile
