Cleaning blu tac off a wall before painting

There’s a lot of it. Some is real blu tac that can be persuaded off with a bigger piece. Some is cheaper stuff that clings like chewing gum. There’s a lot of little marks left that look like oil stains.

There’s at least a couple of hours of fiddly work in it, I think. Any tips for speeding it up?

Isopropyl alcohol worked for me on hard surfaces, not sure about pained walls, though, sorry. Worth a try in an out-of-the-way spot?

It might be easier to get off if you heat it with a hair drier?

I scraped off what I could and washed the rest with sugar soap. Once it's painted over the marks seem to disappear

Try a magic eraser.

Toothpaste does the job. Crazy but true.
