Hello
Just wondering if anyone has gone for IKEA kitchen and which model, looking for a modern one. Any regrets?

Thanks

I've got a metod white gloss one and it's fine. It's 4 years old and has worn really well. I have a stone worktop.

I'm thinking of changing the fronts because I want to redecorate in a different style. In my previous house I had a very expensive handmade kitchen which looked lovely, but I don't think I'd ever spend money on a kitchen like that again.

I have the handle-less drawers and also wouldn't have them again - the grooves gather bits of food etc.

Ours is 6 years old and looks as good as the day it was fitted. I would also use ikea again in another house.

Thanks for that, @burritofan, much appreciated. I too really like the colour and non-bling kitchen style of them, and if they're at least easy to clean up, maybe they'll inspire me to wipe them down a bit more often. I'm also considering having white or cream gloss doors for the higher level cupboards, to help bounce light around, as the kitchen will be in the darkest section of the extension unfortunately.

It's good to hear that the majority of IKEA-kitchen-owners would happily have one again.

Yes I’ll definitely be buying from IKEA again. I’m only redoing my kitchen because I need to remodel, rewire and get a new floor so I have to do the kitchen again. It’s only a few years old and I’ll be reusing most of it I’m sure. I love it.

I have matt white doors, not sure of the name. I bought some additional doors later for a new unit I added in, and the old ones look yellowed now! And the veneer is peeling off where a hand towel was hanging, obviously sometimes damp. Also the oven broke quickly. But I love how versatile it is, and all the drawers are far better then cupboards. I will get all new doors eventually.

I had a Matt white Metod one fitted last June. We used Ikea's fitter and he was fab.
However, the island worktop arrived damaged. He reported it the same day,and said we'd get a replacement. They also sent the wrong size drawers. Very long story short,it took 6 months to get my replacement worktop delivered. I was lied to,no one ever called me back,I had to make endless phone calls and emails. I finally got the replacement worktop in December,I've been emailing ever since, trying to get it fitted. We had to take the incorrect drawers back to the store for a refund ourselves, and collect the correct ones they wouldn't do it themselves, and it's a 100 mile round trip.
They sent two sets of double height cupboard doors,at random one day, when I don't have any cupboards at all,and then claimed that I'd been in-store and ordered them. The delivery men wanted to leave them and for me to take them back. Errr,no,I refused the delivery.
Its been a catalogue of errors, lies and plain old bad customer service, which is a real shame,as the kitchen itself is lovely. I've not been offered an apology, never mind any compensation.10 months on,my kitchen still isn't finished.

I came across this blog post recently, it's a good checklist of dos and don'ts for buying Ikea kitchens:

Thanks everyone, Is it cheaper to get your own fitter or use IKEA kitchen fitter as I hear kitchen fitters don’t like putting in IKEA kitchens. Just thinking if you go for IKEA fitter if parts missing they can sort out more easily?

Love to hear your advice, thanks
