Would you view this house?

We have been looking to buy for several years, finally have enough funds for a 25% deposit to get a better mortgage deal. There is very little on the market in the areas we’d like to move, but have seen this house. We haven’t viewed it in person yet and are driving down to view of from the outside tomorrow. The one massive downside is the electricity pylon overlooking the back of the house. The cables don’t go ver the house and I’ve measured them on Google Earth and they’re around 170 meters away. I have a 7 year old and don’t want move anywhere that would risk his health. I’ve done lots of reading online and there doesn’t seem to be any clear evidence on electrical cables and childhood cancer. The pylon can be seen in the photo of the dining room, but there aren’t any photos of the master bedroom which makes me question things. You can also see the cables from the front of the house if you look closely. Here’s the link:

Next door sold last year, but otherwise there’s very little movement in the street, so it doesn’t seem that it bothers the people there?

Years ago a boy I taught and his mum both died of brain cancer within a year of each other. They lived under an electricity pylon. I wouldn’t go near one.

We live 50m from one and there's no noise from it at all. It's hidden behind trees and the only time I remember it's there is when we come home from that direction and pass it.

Very odd that there is no photo of the garden.

If you don't need five bedrooms, I would look at smaller but better proportioned houses. To me that is top heavy as the living space doesn't match the bedrooms. If you don't have children to fill them all, you'd be better with more downstairs space and fewer bedrooms.

Yes, I noticed that. It’s a lovely road and very rural and schools within walking distance. It ticks a lot of boxes for us. I just wasn’t aware there was a pylon and cables on the road.

There appear to be 2 pretty big trees in the back garden?

Presumably they shield the view of the pylon from downstairs at least.

There used to be two big trees in the back garden. For some unknown reason the current owners decided to take them down. If we bought we’d definitely be putting some new trees and high fencing up.

When my son was at infant school there was a huge satellite tower right next door.

There was an unusually high rate of cancers amongst the children including the 7 year old daughter of my friend.
