Curtain poles on new plaster board and plaster

Not sure what's best to do here.

My house has recently had internal wall insulation fitted on both bedroom walls by the window and the living room wall. The plaster is near enough dry today.

Me and my partner have a 1 year old and we're eager to get the bedrooms back to normal so we can sleep comfortably again.
Obviously we'll need to put our curtains back up.

We no longer have a window frame due to the plaster board and plaster. Do we attach the curtain pole fittings straight into the wall, and if so do we need certain kind of screws and wall plugs? Or do we fit a wooden batton above the window to attach the curtain pole to?

I have no idea what's best. We don't want to mess up and the new plastered walls be ruined.

Any advice would be really helpful, thanks 😊

In the past we have always put up a batton. I think it’s to do with weight disruption of the pole fittings.

Since our DC recently ripped the curtain pole down along with a big chunk of plaster and black mortar we’ll be using a batton moving forward.

We have got wooden batons for our curtain fittings which are painted the same colour as the other woodwork.

So if I'm reading you right here you have a brick wall you wish to put a curtain rail on but this has had insulation fitted over it then plasterboarded?

I had this problem and used these type of fittings:- www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B071G61BQW?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 Only one is needed for each fitting IMHO

You will need to check the depth between your wall and the brickwork and get the correct size if you can.

Thankyou for the replies.
Although the end result will be fine, it's been very stressful trying to figure out how to get my home back to normal after all the work has finished.

I'm not very knowledgeable or good at DIY and just want to get it right without having to pay someone else to do it (money I don't have at the moment).
Thanks again everyone 👍
