Buying a one bedroom flat for my daughter and me

I am struggling to find a flat I can afford in the suburbs reasonably close to my daughter's school. I have a good deposit but am of an age where I would have to repay the mortgage in 15 years. Shared ownership doesn't; really suit me as I have a sizeable deposit and if I did sell in the future owning a large share of the house can be problematic for selling.
I have searched properties near me and am frankly exhausted. I am considering buying a one-bedroom which I can afford and using the lounge as a bedroom- lounge with my daughter having the bedroom. I realise this is a sacrifice but so is renting forever, living in a suburb that I don't want to be in and which is inconvenient for work/school.
I don't have a partner and have not had one for a long time. My daughter is fairly pragmatic and is aware of the situation having viewed endless properties with me.
Has anyone bought a one-bedroom flat in similar circumstances and if so please share your experience.
I live in London.

I wouldn’t. She’ll be wanting to have friends round and for sleepovers.

I’d definitely consider this.
As a PP said, getting a flat with decent storage would be key (or one that you could get decent storage put in). So decent wardrobe / drawer space in the bedroom for both of you; good storage in the bathroom for all your toiletries; preferably a cupboard for suitcase, coats, hoover etc...
Then you could look at a good Murphy bed for the lounge, as you’d definitely want a decent bed for you.

And preferably a flat with some outside space, even it’s an little balcony. It does make a difference having that.

Aren’t you better off sharing the bedroom? So single bed each? My parents have recently got a mortgage in their seventies. Are you sure you can’t get longer than 15 years?

Is it a 1 bed with a kitchen diner or at least space for a small table in the kitchen?

I wouldn’t. She’ll be wanting to have friends round and for sleepovers.
She can still have friends round as she'll have the bedroom.

Have you spoken with a broker to ensure your mortgage information is correct? I would very much try to stretch to a 2 bedroom property if able to so would want to exhaust all possible options, a one bed flat for 2 people for up to 10 possible years would need to be the back up plan for me.
