How loud is a bar 3 water pump? Does anyone have any experiences or advice to share please? Thank you

We had one. It was the bane of our lives as it was so noisy despite being in a cupboard inside a box. We used to switch it off at night as it would wake up everyone in the house.

Plus, it used to wear out every couple of years through continuous use.

Is it whole house or just shower? We've had several plumbers who have all independently recommended the DAB e.sybox mini 3 (whole house system). 1 told us it would be very quiet and 1 told us it would be a bit noisy. I have just looked up the spec and it is max 7.5bar but adjustable and claims 45dB from one metre away. Our very new Bosch dishwasher is 44dB and it is quiet. (To compare, a human voice is around 60dB & an alarm clock around 80dB).

We are putting ours outside because that is where the tank will be (private water with current flow of 8l/min).

My mum has a shower pump (randomly I took a photo of it the other day which I've attached) and it is loud. You can hear it everywhere in the house. I am not 100% sure what model it is so hard to look up sound pressure but I've seen something that says noise level can be up to 70dB and I'd say that sounds about right (vacuum cleaner level noise).

Anyway... in case you are just looking for shower pump can you download the spec sheet and check the noise level?

Thank you both! Ours is just for use when showering. But I'm worried about the noise with early starts and young children.

The plumber said the mains pressure is good if we were to remove the pump and put in an unvented cylinder, but he can't guarantee it will be strong enough to run two waterfall showers. And we can't go back to a pump then if so.

I just don't know what's best.

We moved to an unvented cyclinder and it was fine for use with a single, normal shower.

I would definitely not go for the pump ever again.
However, really take your time and explore your options. Good luck!

We are fitting a vented tank with a shower coil in it. It means that the shower can use mains pressure for hot and cold.

I'm not sure if it would run two showers simultaneously but you can go back to a pump. You could mix and match too. Pump for one and mains for the other.

We’ve got a shower pump, it was here when we bought the house. It is very noisy but only when running, so a short time. I don’t know what the showers would be like without but we can have two good showers at the same time.
I find kids get used to things like that quite quickly.

We have a 3 bar shower pump. It is about as loud as a hoover albeit muted by being in the airing cupboard.
