Porcelain tiles patio

We are considering extending/replacing an old Indian Sandstone patio as next door have built an extension which wipes out most of our patio.

We can’t get the same size slabs as we had down so we are thinking of redoing the lot. The places we have looked seem to say that porcelain slabs are better than Indian sandstone less porous, easy to keep clean and not slippy when wet. I did have my eye on a light stone with contrasting dark slate edging but DH thinks it will be hard to keep clean (we have a dog who goes on muddy walks and our garden is surrounded by quite a few trees). Now I am more edging towards the black? Any MN words of wisdom especially from anyone with porcelain tiles?

We are currently having a porcelain patio laid - we've gone for mid-grey as was worried too light would show up all the marks.
It isn't finished yet but I'm already so pleased with our choice!
Most of the landscapers we got to quote were more comfortable with laying sandstone and trying to convince us to go with sandstone, but we have an east facing garden so knew it would end up covered in green stuff.

@Spring2021

This is a better photo white (which is more of cream - with black edging stones) or black (with multi colour edging) as photo?

We have wood in the room leading the patio and we will have a black metal table on the patio which leads up to the grass.

I like the medium beige tiles. Who are the builders merchants, are they UK wide? What price per m2 are they? I've got a sample of light grey Strata 'sandstone grey' from Sydenhams, I like it. But I wonder whether the lighter colour in bright sunlight (sometimes I sure even in the UK!) might glare. Even just the 30x30mm sample is bright to look at.

Although bottom rhs is nice too.

Its just a local builders merchants. Think it works out at £30 a sq metre with VAT.

I have had to pick a colour (DH thought the white may create a glare effect) and we are low maintenance so it would be permanently filthy, our date isn’t until July and have now said black. I don’t like the pale grey but the RHS one I could live with.

Anyone else have any views or experience with porcelain tiled patios and if so what colour did you go for and are you still pleased with it or do you have any regrets?

DH still wants the darkest colour in the photos but I am not 100% sure. We live in a 1930’s semi and we are both mid 50’s and not mad keen on any additional housework, gardening jobs. Thanks

Did you decide on your tile OP? We went for these ones which are a very pale grey ww2.tilemountain.co.uk/p/icarus-grey-porcelain-outdoor-slab.html?mkwid=s_dm&pcrid=438747783544&pkw=&pmt=&product=451335&campaign=&group=&gclid=CjwKCAjwqvyFBhB7EiwAER786XgZrKt5GIKJIzYIqnAxVEPZKsXqFFTOOGmv_kC28nR7t9LdLQKMIhoCyyQQAvD_BwE and have been pleased with the ease of cleaning them, the grip and the amount of light they reflect into the house.

They do show up the mud though, we have heavy clay so we now take muddy boots off at the edge of the patio. We have the same tiles which run into our kitchen so I tend to just vacuum both together and treat tge patio as an extension of the indoors.

Op why don’t you order some samples and leave them out in the sun? See how they feel?
