Gas regulation/extractor fan help

I rent my house from lovely landlords who only have this property.
I recently got a smart meter installed, and the engineer who fitted it gave us an at risk notice, because the gas hob is in a room with no windows which open to the outside (attached conservatory). He said this needs to be rectified by installing a synchronous extractor fan, which turns on when the hob does, a ventilation brick to the outside, or an electric hob. I chose this house specifically because it was a gas hob, but now this jobs worth has condemned it. For context, it’s been like this for a decade, and it had been passed during the annual gas safety check a few months before hand.
My questions are:
Does this regulation apply since it seems to be new?
Does anyone know what the extractor fans that turn on with the hob are called, I’ve tried Googling but with no luck.
Has anyone put in a ventilation brick type thing, how much did it cost?
I’m devastated

Interlocked? This is your landlord's problem to address.

I know it’s their issue, but I’m trying to do the research to keep it as gas, or they’ll understandably go with the easy solution of an electric hob. Thanks for the search term though!

The lack of ventilation puts you at massive risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. He's not a jobsworth, his advice is potentially life saving.

I already have an extractor fan I use whenever I cook, the door to the conservatory is never actually closed, but because it exists it’s classed as at risk. I also obviously have CO detectors in the kitchen. Between that and the fact that it was passed by someone who does inspections day in day out two months before, when he just glanced, frustrates me. I wouldn’t have moved here had I known

it will be cheaper to put in a ventilation brick or a simple extractor fan (NOT a noisy shitty extractor hood) then to change to an electric hob. And I'm with you on wanting to stick with gas!

just pass to the landlord explaining the above.

BTW I also had some nonsense when my tenants had smart meters fitted; completely at odds from the qualified and experienced gas safe chap who checks the property every year. A bit of arguing made the smart meter monkey have another look and spot something he'd missed.
