Waiting for Offer Answer

We accepted an offer on our house last Weds. Viewed a house and tried to put in an offer the same day, they said we had to be checked financially - did that Thursday and passed (house was £150k under our max budget).
Offer officially put forward Thurs afternoon by EA. We have heard NOTHING since. We were told at the time we were the only offer on the table in a position to proceed. We're in a good position (our buyer is cash investor, we have AiP etc and are porting current mortgage, solicitors lined up). WHY HAVE WE NOT HEARD BACK?!? I thought we'd hear Friday. Now I feel like I'm going mad waiting for phone to ring. Handhold? Advice? Confused

Oh bless you! Ring EA and see what the position is!

You have my sympathies @Dinosauraddict the whole thing is a bloody stressful waiting game.

I've learnt that you have to be ballsy with EA most of the time. Call and ask for an update. Be blasé. Show no fear - they smell it from a mile off!

And buckle up cos if it does get accepted then there's a ton more stress yet to come Wink

It can take forever. My DD offered on a flat last year and after 2/3 weeks they hadn't got an answer so walked away. The vendor it seems lived abroad and rarely answered any messages then when they did it seems they needed to consult a load of family members first. I would call the EA and see what the situation is.

It’s really only be less than two days, most agents only work half day in a Saturday, you offered Thursday, Friday, I’d give it another day before chasing.

Bluntness100 · 12/04/2021 13:39

I’d give them a call. Tell them you want an answer and that th delay isn’t a good sign. See what they say, some sellers can be weird as fuck. On the other hand. Did you low ball them?

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 12/04/2021 13:46

They may have had more viewings booked in over the weekend, give the EA a call and ask them is the only way of finding out.

Dinosauraddict · 12/04/2021 14:22

They came back to me and rejected my offer (outright, no counter off). It was a fair offer IMO (£675k on £700k asking price) but I've now upped it. Back to the waiting game again!! Sad

That was a fair offer - but as a seller I'd not accept a first offer without trying to get more - and as you've upped your offer they did the right thing!

Bluntness100 · 12/04/2021 15:11

It’s very hard to pronounce that fair without seeing the property. It could easily be priced fairly. And the offer a low ball and they were right to refuse.

UCOinanOCG · 12/04/2021 15:35

I think at the moment most properties are going for over asking so I would say the vendor is quite right to see what offers come in and see if they can get on or over asking. You will just have to be patient.

Dinosauraddict · 12/04/2021 15:37

It has been on the market for a month (rare for round here at the moment as most things are going quickly) and I know they had no more viewings over the weekend. Still heard nothing back from revised offer, but feeling a bit disheartened.
