Outdoor Swing / Slide Set

Hello! We are thinking about installing a slide / swing set in our garden. One of the fairly large wooden ones. Has anyone done something similar?

Our garden is on a slight incline, and I wondered whether we need the entire area to be leveled or if on one side holes would be dug for the legs to sink in lower to make them level with the other side.

Any advice or info would be much appreciated!

We put one in about 5 years ago and have just sold it. It gave hours of fun to dc and friends and was worth every penny.

Dh is a builder so put extra supports in when we fixed it in and made sure it was level. Some support structures are deeper where ground not level. We made a shaped wooden surround and filled it with rubber chips as protective flooring. I then covered this with black carpet grass as the chips constantly flew out. We needed a safety floor due to special needs, but some good rubber mats would suffice under swings.

Depending on your incline, you could get your frame/house modified to fit which would possibly be cheaper than levelling the area. There are some good examples on images and if you know a builder/carpenter they can build you any additional framework to support it. If you buy from a company they often offer service to install it so you could get more ideas/advice before you buy.

Hope that helpsSmile

This does help thank you! I don't think it's a particularly steep incline and was hoping we could get away with not having to totally level the area. I'll try to speak to some local builders.. my concern is lead times as I'd like to get one soon but I know lead times can be long, especially at this time of year.

The companies that I've been looking at offer to build the structure but won't do any groundwork. I'd love a company that would do the whole thing!

Might also be worth asking a local tradesperson for a price to install it and compare it with the company you buy from. That way you could build in any modifications to fit it.

Also, if you haven't already looked, ebay and such may throw up a good secondhand frame. Also, worth looking at bigger companies/garden centres and see if any ex-display. This may help with lead times. Good luck.
