Removing old phone wires

Our new house has multiple phone sockets around it with wires all over the place. Because of house the wires are set out between rooms it’s not clear what goes to where. I want all the extra phone sockets and wiring removed. I have no idea who would do this? Who do I need to contact? Thanks

Start with your phone/broadband provider who will contact Openreach. With cordless phones and wifi, all anyone needs now is one master socket close to where the phone line enters the house. All the rest can go and you can do that yourself.

be a little careful as you may get charged by Openreach - the 'free' service ends at the front plate of the master socket. If the system is old then it is a good idea to get a new master socket put in, your broadband will be more stable.

it is also a good idea to keep a cheap corded phone in a drawer, which will give you a phone in the event of a power cut. (these can take out mobile service too)

I have the same issue, sockets and wires all over. Have no idea. We had a new line put in so ours are more likely the old cable TV / phone lines.

Plus we have outside lights that come on every night and we have no idea how or where the supply is coming from.
