1970s semi. What to do with it? Instagram accounts?

We have been here a number of years, blocked up the serving hatch, put proper rails and banister on the stairs and painted everywhere but I still feel as though it needs an overhaul. Nothing is dreadful and maybe that’s what’s stopping us doing more.

I have NO style. I know I don’t like country chic in 70s builds but apart from that I’m stuck. How do I get some style? Any instagram accounts worth following? All the ones I find I like are in very different style houses so I cannot imagine them in mine. How do I work out what I like?

We've gone Scandi throughout. Natural muted colours, textures with wood, satin curtains and huge shaggy rug, velvet cushions. The huge windows let loads of light in but smallish rooms mean too much colour would make them look smaller. We have Dulux Timeless throughout downstairs too OP and it works really well with the light that comes through.

This has been so useful and the insta accounts really are what I like so have followed them all!

Looking through everything I can see Nordic styling would work. Our rooms are all so regular in shape-no alcoves or chimney breasts so I think shelving and plants will need to add dimension there.

Does anyone use an app that would be suitable for mood boards? Not like Pinterest but almost cutting out images and layering them? Maybe need to up my excel skills here!

Thank you for posting OP. I've just moved from a 1847 five bed house into a modernised 1940's bungalow. I've been googling for ages trying to find my 'look' and thought I'd have to buy some magazines.

Rather than accounts, how about following tags instead? Eg #livingroominspo #scandiinterior.

Scandi/Nordic, mid century simplicity work really well in houses like yours, OP.

Hi OP, I found it super helpful to go on rightmove and search your road for house prices. Then if you click on each house you will find the same house as yours with previous listings photos.

Its been really useful for us to have a look at things like layouts, shelving, how others are generally doing things.
