Help...what kind of kitchen to go for....?

We've got a budget of about £30K with appliances. Maybe a bit more.

Want it to last, be easy to take care of and clean for 2 people who aren't that great at cleaning. Once a week thorough wipe down of fronts rather than every day.

Do we go for solid wood? Solid wood doors? Want it to last.

We think we might want something paintable if we want to change the look at some point

Husband is wondering whether matt or gloss...

Probably Quartz worktop. Want something bomb proof and easy to maintain.

Probably an Island for the storage.

I’m in the same position currently.

Designing a kitchen to last in our forever home. Definitely not having gloss. Had that before and everytime anyone touched a door, they left finger prints!! So frustrating!!

I’m looking for a timeless kitchen as opposed to a trendy one. Matt units. Quartz worktops that are fresh looking etc

Laminate worktops, resistant to damage. Minimum twiddles on doors - I've got the simple square shaker and it gets cleaned maybe once a month. The old style country kitchen was just a dirt trap. Matt finish.

Not real wood unless you enjoy oiling.

With a budget that healthy, you have a wide range of choices.

In frame doors look nice. Matt over high gloss definitely. I imagine high gloss will go out of fashion in a few years and they do show finger prints.
We went for ‘dekton’ worktop. Very strong and hard wearing. They can look like quartz too.

I would do solid wood cabinets (try and find a local company who customise all your shelves and drawers). Then get recycled glass worktops they are unbelievably durable and stain resistant and beautiful to look. Perhaps Karndean for the floor? I have a tiled floor and it is so annoying as everything smashes on it. Happy planning
