Lining near fire / ambulance station

We recently looked at a property located behind a fire and an ambulance station. While the property is practical I am wondering if anyone has experience living near fire/ambulance stations and what are your thoughts.

While the noise of sirens is expected, does one get used to it? And will it be difficult to sell the property if I wanted to few years down the line?

I lived for over a year right next to the Royal London Hospital and after a couple of weeks the ambulances and the helicopter landing and taking off from the helipad just blurred into the background. In terms of resale, I think it’s one of those things that, just as with you, will mildly concern some people but not others. If the house is otherwise very practical with desirable features, those things will win over.

I live near a fire station and a hospital although it doesn't have an A&E unit but blue light ambulances do come and go. I notice the sirens but I'm not right on top of them. I think ambulances don't tend to go out with blues & twos on from the station as they go from one job to the next throughout their shift. The fire engines definitely do but I guess their call outs are relatively infrequent? I go past a lot and I think only once in 13 years have I seen them about to leave on a job.

I lived near an ambulance station - they rarely leave from the amylabxe
Station as they apparently map the places most likely to need support and sit remotely - usually out at the most of the time and only go back to the station to refill their ambulances and have breaks - the best neighbours I ever had!

I live two doors away from a fire station. The proximity never crossed my mind when buying my house tbh. Can't say I notice the noise even though I live on a main road. Look at it this way, God forbid you ever need them then they're not far away.

@Shorthairlady - this happened to me with ambulance - called 999 and a crew were on a break there but came as it was same road, he told me he didn't move an inch and sat nav said 'you've reached your destination' - he told me 'next time you want us over just stick the bbq on and we'll be right over' bless him - helped take fear out of the situation lol

I work in ambulances but as a nurse. There are rules about using sirens in residential areas unless required. So they may leave the station on blues but not put sirens on until they need to, like crossing a junction or a red light. I'm sure it must be the same for fire, although they are deployed much less frequently so I wouldn't worry

Ambulances don’t spend the whole time in the station and are often either always out on the road because of continuous jobs or else waiting in a central location. Lights and especially sirens don’t go on as often as you are probably thinking and have to be with minimal disruption to residents. When they return to the station, they won’t be on a job so it will be quiet.

It really wouldn't bother me because its work noise and wont be frequent.

@custardbear Grin but hope it wasn't too serious.
