Appliances under electric hob?

We moved into a new house a year ago and the layout of the kitchen isn't the best.

I've seen lots of contradictory advice online about having appliances under an electric ceramic hob.

Does anybody have a washing machine or dishwasher under an electric hob? Has this caused any issues?

The underneath of our hob does not get hot and we have a huge empty space there at the moment.

Just wondering what others have done where they have a blanks space under their hobs.

Thanks

I don't think heat would be an issue but I would be surprised that you have enough height for a dishwasher if your worktops and hob are at a standard height. We have a couple of drawers under ours with saucepans in.

Thanks for replying.

I've measured and a washing machine would fit under... I guess we must have high work tops

Surely you want your dishwasher next to your sink? And I think it would be very odd to have a washing machine under a hob, especially if it's not integrated. If I was buying I would be asking myself 'what were they thinking'? A pan drawer makes much more sense.

Do you have plumbing there? Moving plumbing is expensive. It's easier and better to have dishwashers / washing machines close to the sink.

We have an induction job and have 2 pan drawers under.

I have a dishwasher under mine. No problems at all.

I think you need to look up the instructions for both appliances and check before you put one under the other. If you inadvertently cause a fire and either of the manufactures suggested this wasn't advisable, you would be liable.

My washing machine shakes quite violently on the final spin, I’d hate to think what it would do to a hob that was set into the worktop
