En-suite shower panels

We are hoping to completely re-do our en-suite in the next few weeks. We can fit a 900x1100 shower, and maybe a 900x1200.

I'd like this panel but I'm afraid that the floor will constantly be soaked.

Has anyone got a shower like this? Would they recommend?

That's for a wetroom - is your ensuite fitted as a wet-room?

Nichola2310 · 29/03/2021 20:52

No, but the panel can be used with a shower tray, so a walk in shower rather than a wet room.

Our shower is 900x1100 and if we had that panel only with no end on there would be water EVERYWHERE. And ours is a rainfall head so not super high pressured power shower type either. For something like that to work in a non-wet room I expect it would have to be fitted to a much larger shower tray to catch any overspray or to have a door at the end to make it a full enclosure

Well it's your house so you can use it with whatever you like!

As long as you have nobody living underneath you!

I have one in a wet room and one on a shower tray.
The shower tray one leaks if I leave it running before I get in, The wet room one is fine.
I used to have a 1m square tray and I could shower in that without spillage too

LoisChasse · 29/03/2021 21:19

We have a very similar set-up. No issues with water spillage. I put a bath mat at the end to catch the odd splash. I find it so much easier to keep clean than our other shower which has a door.

Nichola2310 · 29/03/2021 21:20

@LoisChasse cleanliness is the main reason I'm leaning towards this style.

We had a hinged door on our shower until recently. 1200 wide in a recess, so a shorter fixed panel & a hinged door. Very simple, quiet, easy to clean. Whole shower has had to come out for other reasons, currently contemplating what to replace it with. Kids’ bathroom has a sliding door - don’t want one of those.

This style is another option but the gap to walk in feels very small!

We have 1200 x 800 and a screen like that. No issue ever with water. Love it way more than doors

RandomMess · 29/03/2021 21:48

I think 1100 is a bit short for no end.

Will you have visitors/kids/teens using it?

It would be fine for you and partner everyone else will not be as careful!!!

Nichola2310 · 29/03/2021 21:54

@RandomMess no it will be in an en-suite so just me and my husband, however I doubt he will be as careful as me!

We’re currently fitting a new bathroom and have space for a 1200 x 800 tray. I really wanted one like this but we concluded that the risk of splashes was too great, because we wouldn’t know until we’d installed it whether it was right for us.

RandomMess · 29/03/2021 22:04

Now "I'm forgiven" has finished I have just measured ours.

Me being v short and careful I get splashes as far out as 1300 at the end, DH just had a shower and it's got wet to 1400 with splashes beyond that - he is tall and careful.

Not sure if there was a rainfall head there would be less? I can't bear them though (see v short comment). Just as then the water is straight down???

Have you seen the frameless sliding door panels??

Nichola2310 · 30/03/2021 07:22

I've had another look this morning and have drawn up these 2 options to discuss with the plumber.

I have the floor space for a 1400 tray, but the window is getting in the way, so if I used an 1100 fixed panel along with a 300 moving flipper, that should reduce water spray.

Alternatively I go for the smaller 1100 shower tray and close it in at the end, and use a 700 side panel with a 300 moving flipper.

I'd go for the longer tray in part because my towel rail is at the end and it's great to reach the lovely warm towel wrap it around myself and then blade down before stepping out.

Love it!!

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 30/03/2021 15:07

We have one with a hinged panel at the end. It means the screen can be longer as the panel moves to let you in and out, and you can angle it behind you to make sure splashes bounce back inside. It's great.
