Painting skirtings, do architraves have to match?

I live in a Victorian house. I painted the hall last year, then got a springer spaniel and realised the colour is far too light! I’m going to put in a dado rail and paint the bottom half a darker colour. At the moment the skirtings are white but I think would be better painted to match the darker wall and dado rail. So that leaves the door architraves and banister. I might try and strip the banister but should I really match the door architraves to the skirting or can I leave them white?

If I paint them to match the architraves but want to leave them white on the other side what should I do about the inside of the door frame? All the dark skirtings I can see on Pinterest are matched to the architraves but I’m not sure. The doors are also white atm but I’m planning to strip them at some point.

Normally where you have two different colours on either side of a door, you change colour on the door stop so that when the door is closed, whichever side you stand you see only one colour.
