House clearance

What's the best and easiest way of doing this?

Need to clear a house that's filled with China ornaments and tea sets and dinner services - absolutely no idea of any worth (all sentimental pieces have been removed already).

What would you all do? Owner of the house is very much alive and kicking and would love any cash that could be made from selling them - just don't know where to start!

Tea sets and dinner services - would EBay. I know some tea shops/posh cafes that like to use good quality China and scour EBay for sets.

Ok - thanks! That's an idea. How on earth does one send China through the post?! Shock

Pick up only!

If you have a local auction house and complete sets try them. I sold £2000 worth of odds and ends.

Some of this stuff is worthless (no matter how much it cost new) and some has value as antiques.

Go on ebay, search for the make and then filter the results by USED and SOLD so you see what people have paid for similar items in the past. That will tell you what's worth selling and what isn't.

Facebook marketplace is good - very simple to list and insist on collection only.

Sadly the UK is awash in the collectable china which no one wants as it is not microwave or dishwasher safe. The eBay tip above is good, or maybe try Preloved?

but otherwise you will need to find a charity shop that will take it.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate all your advice Thanks

As suggested...scan ebay for sold listings...prepare to be let down and take the lot to charity shops etc...i cleared a mountain of china and tea sets from my aunts house...99% worthless despite being from the 1900 and 1930 period....etc..cut glass vases etc etc..all out of fashion....any susie cooper or clarice cliff will sell as will items from the 60's and 50's and 70's as now trendy..so much of it about now....i actually had a garden sale for all my stuff and made about £300 and unsold items went to charity shop.

There are various websites for discontinued china that are parts of sets. If I search "selling china uk", 5 websites come up, including chinasearch and mrpottery.

We recently cleared aelatives house. During lockdown it was almost impossible as charity shops etc weren’t open. We used. A house clearance man, plus skips.

You may find homes for the tea and dinner sets - there’s plenty of online companies that sell discontinued lines. However, we were told that ornaments don’t sell. 70s furniture is what in vogue at the moment.
