Would you buy a house on the same road as a doctors surgery?

Viewed a property today and it ticks a lot of boxes, we're FTB. However, across the road and up a few meters is a scores surgery.

I'm feeling uneasy about this but I don't know why?

Hell yes- easy appointments.

OneEpisode · 27/03/2021 20:49

My GP’s patients fill their car park and also park on the street nearby. Is this going to cause a problem?

sabrinathemiddleagewitch · 27/03/2021 20:49

What are you concerns around?

Is it on a main road? Is there ample parking? Does the price reflect the location?

FelicityPike · 27/03/2021 20:51

Wouldn’t bother me in slightest (if I had a driveway).

Sexnotgender · 27/03/2021 20:51

What is your concern?

ParkheadParadise · 27/03/2021 20:52

Wouldn't bother me.

Bluntness100 · 27/03/2021 20:53

Wouldn’t bother me at all.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 27/03/2021 20:53

My concern would be parking during the hours it was open unless it has its own large enough car park.

Do you have concerns?

CheckMate2021 · 27/03/2021 20:55

As others have said, parking would be a concern unless there is a drive.
I’d quite happily live near my doctors Grin

flippertygibbit · 27/03/2021 20:56

That wouldn't bother me at all, can't see why it would but if the 'feeling' isn't right, go with your 'feeling'

SynchroSwimmer · 27/03/2021 21:01

I would suggest sitting in your car and observing for a while from a distance on a normal workday to gain an insight as to how it is.

My own thoughts (based on here) would be not to - on the basis of the volume of traffic - the number of vehicles arriving, manouvering and departing consistently throughout the day.

DramaAlpaca · 27/03/2021 21:02

It wouldn't worry me in the least.

skeggycaggy · 27/03/2021 21:03

My only concern would be parking.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 27/03/2021 21:03

Given that the drs isn’t open on wkends or evenings the parking wouldn’t worry me

Pre covid I would have said this was a fantastic idea but most practices are still predominantly conducting telephone appts so you’re not going to necessarily get an accurate picture.
Sansaplans · 27/03/2021 21:05

As long as they have what seems to be adequate or a fair amount of parking, I wouldn't be worried. If though there isn't, as a PP said often people tend to abandon their cars everywhere on the nearby streets!

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 27/03/2021 21:08

What's the issue?

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 27/03/2021 21:09

Lol what? Yes I would!

WestendVBroadway · 27/03/2021 21:28

I live on the same street as a primary school and parking is a nightmare between 08:40- 09:00 and 15:00-15:30. I imagine it would be constantly an issue if only a small car park is available for patients.

Midlifelady · 27/03/2021 21:31

I live near one and the road is no busier. Most people seem to walk.

NotABeliever · 27/03/2021 21:42

My doctor's surgery is on a narrow residential strewn. The cars are parked all over the place and there's always a lot of congestion. Every time I go there I think I wouldn't want to live in the same street. Not as bad as a primary school though.

Literallynoidea · 27/03/2021 21:51

No reason why not

Literallynoidea · 27/03/2021 21:53

Just read the other messages. We live on the same road as our GP and it is no busier than any other road (London).

I like it - leave the house two mins before appointments, plus vague idea it might be useful in a crisis. And DH sprinted up the road when they called to offer him an early covid jab!

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 27/03/2021 21:55

You obviously don't live anywhere near mine then, it has a small car park and no where near enough on street parking for all the elderly patients who can't walk there.

My parents also live near their surgery and it has exactly the same issue which si why my immediate thought is about parking.

ShakeaHettyFeather · 27/03/2021 21:56

I live round the corner from a big GP surgery. It has no parking but it's London so patients walk or bus. Or park on the road. It's not bad. I'd live next door.
