Can you replace integrated microwave with an oven?

Moving into a house with an integrated microwave above an integrated oven - would much rather two ovens. Has anyone replaced a microwave with a slim oven? Is this possible?

They are different dimensions- I have recently had a kitchen designed and asked the same question because they had but an integrated microwave in and I’d asked for a combi oven, was told there wasn’t space

Thanks for the info! How annoying.. I never use a microwave and two ovens is the key to the best Yorkshire puddings

I think it depends on the size of the hole when you take the micro out . Some are 454mm high which could then be replaced with a combi oven. Some micros are less tall but have an infill over the top that could be added into the hole size, so don't feel it's a no go until you have had a good look!

We have an oven and integrated microwave. We use the microwave almost daily though.

We also use the microwave as an oven and grill. Most integrated microwaves are combi ovens too.

But yes agree with pp, the dimensions are different so not sure there'd be space

Is it definitely just an integrated microwave rather than a combi microwave oven? We have a combi (oven a regular oven) - use it equally as an oven and a microwave. It’s actually the best thing!

Sorry that should have said the combi is on top of a regular oven

if they are fitted in a tower unit, then I expect t is 600mm wide so another oven may fit. However an oven unit has an extra-strong shelf for the oven, and there may only be one. A carpenter could fit or fabricate another.

you will also need sufficient electric power. For two ovens, or even a double oven, a plug and socket are not enough and you will need a cooker circuit. With luck you will already have one there, but more likely not.

Most kitchens only have one cooker circuit, positioned for the hob or cooker (mine has one at each side of the kitchen).

Thanks for all the wisdom. Who knew it could be so complicated. Hoping that maybe it’s a microwave oven as some have mentioned - didn’t even know they existed!

You can replace the single oven + microwave with a double oven. Two single ovens stacked would look odd.

Bear in mind that double oven frequently doesn't have as large an oven as a single oven - my mum had a double oven to replace her old single and she loved it at first, but then realised she hardly ever used the top oven and the bottom oven was a little too small.

With that in mind, have you considered replacing the microwave with a combi?

@notrub

"You can replace the single oven + microwave with a double oven"

But not if the two old appliances are supplied from a socket circuit.
