Hello
We are looking to buy a composite front door with two glass panels to let light into hallway. Anyone recommend any companies they used to buy door and get them to install too. Do they remove old door too as part of their service.

How much does it roughly cost to buy and install good quality one?
Are the doors secure and anyone willing to share a pic Smile thank you

There’s some pictures on this thread:

Ours cost £1,120 to remove and dispose of a wooden door and install a composite door with a top light.

Thanks @MinnieMountain. May I ask which company you got yours from? Does that price also include the door frame?

It was a local one. I didn’t ask who made the door.

That was including the frame and a 3 digit number on the toplight.

We've just had one fitted. As the PP, we used somebody local and have no idea of the brand of the door supplied. They are usually £1000 ‐ 1200 supplied and fitted (with the old door taken away), but we chose a miss-measure so it was nearly half that price.
Security wise, the fitter said they are so secure that in police raids they cut them down the middle to get in rather than being able to just bash them open. They certainly look and feel sturdy, and have a multi-point lock. We will be also fitting a chain.
We had a uPVC door before, and the difference in draftiness is noticeable. We're really pleased with it.

Oh yes, key cost. Ours came with 2 but we had to buy spares from the supplier at £45ish for 3.

We have a Solidor door fitted by a local company , it was about 1k for the door and we are very happy with it .

Mine is a solidor too.

We changed the internal parts on ours as it locked every time it was closed and it was driving us crazy. The locksmith who did it said that the doors kept his business afloat as everyone kept locking themselves out. They are supposed to be ram proof like @SkankingMopoke says.

The fact that no one could open it from outside when it was closed was one of the main attractions for us but I’m a creature of great habit so thus far have not been locked out . The locks they come with are excellent from a security aspect according to my husband .

AuntieDolly · 27/03/2021 10:57

I've been quoted £1800, £2400 & £2800 which was much higher than I was expecting.

Yes, I know people really like them. I just couldn't get on with it at all. I felt like I lived in a prison. Probably not helped by the fact the door was prison grey. Grin
