Air source - underfloor heating

I am about to move into a new build bungalow with air source underfloor heating and would like to hear your experiences with this form of heating. I have already spoken to carpet specialists who understand tog ratings required for this type of heating system but it is all new to me, having lived in gas centrally heated homes all my life. One benefit I have noticed - no clunky radiators on walls which make the rooms bigger! Is this sort of system easy to manage and will it be expensive to run? I currently control my gas heating and hot water with Hive and love the ease of it all. What can I expect with this new system? Thank you.

We've got it throughout the house. The bedrooms, upstairs sitting room and study have wool carpet, the rest is tile or laminate. I love the underfloor heating and the ASHP, the house seems to stay at a constant temperature,we are never cold. We only have electricity here,no gas,and the house is a self built eco house, so has fab insulation. It is 2000sq ft and we pay £80 a month for electricity, far less than we paid for electricity and gas to heat our old house which was a third of the size. We also get £600 a year payment via the RHI,so make sure that you claim that if you can.
I love the lack of radiators too,it makes furnishing the rooms so much easier.

My ex husband has moved into a new build with an air source heat pump and underfloor heating. It doesn't heat the house properly and he's spending more now on electric than before. The system can be brilliant if fitted by a competent fitter, trained in air source technology, but more often than not they are bought in and fitted into pipe work that's not suitable for this type of heating. I'd be checking what type of system it is and potentially having an independent company check all that fir you beforehand.

I have this, ASHP with underfloor downstairs and radiators upstairs and its brilliant. I wouldn't go for carpets though as they will just keep the heat underneath. I have a concrete floor and its a lovely gentle heat and I have toasty toes in winter. My ASHP also does the hot water. Cheap to run - but my house is extremely well insulated.
