Hello all!

Can I lay LVT OVER existing kitchen floor tiles? Old wooden kitchen and wanted to update by painting cupboard doors and LVT flooring (saving to do a new kitchen will be at least a few years).

Appreciate the help :)

Quickstep Alpha Vinyl might suit your needs. There might be other brands but Quickstep does seem to be of good quality.

only if your current tiles are level. If they are not quite even, there is a chance that the click tile mechanism will unclick.

You'll need a subfloor first, either scree or ply. Otherwise your LVT will be uneven and could even unclick and also if you mop it you'll get water ingress.

Quick step even says you need a level sub floor

I fitted lino over my old tiles (I know I know, lino is awful but it does look good)

My apologies if I misinformed you, I interpreted this quote from Quick step to imply you could lay it over existing tiles...

Suitable for irregular surfaces
Alpha Vinyl’s solid core offers another advantage: in most cases, you won’t have to prepare your subfloor before installation. This makes Alpha Vinyl an excellent choice for renovation projects. It also helps that - thanks to the user-friendly, patented click systems - the planks are exceptionally easy to install.

I think this applies more for wooden floors that may have a bit of movement. My tiled floor was uneven as in the sharp edge of some of the tiles was higher than other times, and rock hard. So we were advised that click tile flooring would most probably unclick.

If the tiles are even and flat, and not wobbly, then it should be fine.

if you get felt backed lino rather than foam then the tiles don't show through
