Flight noise in Herts?

Hello! We are hoping to relocate to St Albans or Harpenden after many years overseas, and a friend just mentioned to me that both of these areas may well suffer from flight noise due to the proximity to Luton Airport.
I'll admit that I hadn't thought about this before but now she's mentioned it to me it is a concern.
DH is very noise sensitive and having previously lived under the Heathrow flight path (in Surrey) we definitely don't want to deal with that level of disruption again.
I'm sure things are quieter at the moment due to the reduced flight schedules but I'd love to know what it's like in 'normal' times in these areas?
Thanks so much in advance x

I don't live in Herts but visited regularly a few years ago. The attached might help in your research. Published in 2019 but since then the travel world has changed of course.

Keep an eye on Flightradar24 too - it's not ideal at the moment with the reduced numbers of flights but you'll see what height the planes go over at on their way in and out of Luton.

By the look of the link @Paleodiet has shared St Albans would be much quieter than Harpenden.

We live under one of the approach routes to both Heathrow and Luton (not on the same days thankfully!) and planes come over us at about 5,500 - 7,000 feet. I don't find it disruptive at all at that height.

An RAF plane came over at 2,600 feet the other day and that was really loud! I love watching planes but I couldn't put up with the noise at that level.

If you look at the Luton flight paths, some go over the southern end of Harpenden/northern part of St Albans. But the planes are high and you don’t actually hear them

Neither St Albans nor Harpenden suffer from plane noise, don't worry! I've lived in both places and it's never been an issue.

I live under the approach to Bristol (Lulsgate ( airport. According to flightradar they are at about 2000ft when overhead. We don't notice them.
I grew up virtually next door to Filton where British Aerospace was based. The only planes I ever noticed were Concorde and The Red Arrows.
