Insuring a derelict property

Hi!

My husband and I are just about to buy a house for renovation. We're looking to get buildings insurance, but we're finding it tricky.

The structure is totally fine, but due to a water tank bursting years ago, the plaster on the ceilings and some walls has come down.

The doors and windows are old - the windows don't have any locks on them.

Anyone got any ideas about where we might be able to look? All the ones we've found have asked for us to confirm the house is in a 'good condition'. Obviously we're looking for absolutely minimal cover, just covering arson or something like that.

Thanks in advance for any help! Smile

Try one of the high quality companies like Hiscox or Chubb. Or go through a specialist broker.

The insurance industry is in turmoil at the moment so definitely go through a broker. Not a high street broker but an independent specialist.
