Woodlice -- is it?

Hi

Every now and then I see some crawling creatures roaming my house. I am not sure what these are, seeing 1-2 everyday in the house.
Quick google indicates it might be woodlice, can anyone confirm, pictures attached.

Questions:

  1. Do these creatures live under the house floor boards (under foundation), probably that is where plenty of rotting wood might be? The house had some damp issues earlier, which seem to be fixed now as I dont see any wet walls etc, but not sure about the wood underneath the house.
  2. Is it possible they come from airbricks and enter via both front door and the patio door holes? Probably any other holes somewhere?
  3. Anyone to who has experienced these, can please share their experience of getting rid of these?
thanks.

Yes those are woodlice! I've been noticing some in our new (to us) house and was wondering where they were coming from. We have a wood burner so I assumed they might have been coming in on the logs?

We had loads when we first moved in to our current house, they all came out after we put the heating on as the house had been sat empty for a bit. We get a few every now and again still, always this time of year. When they were bad, we bought a powder that you put around the edges of your rooms and it kills them

I usually have at least one walking across my sitting room floor. It doesn't bother me really I just pick them up and put them outside.

Better than the ear wigs we used to get in the house I grew up in 🤢

Woodlice eat rotting wood and can only live where there is a damp environment so it might be worth checking if there is damp anywhere in the house e.g. rotten floorboards

London woodlice would roll into a ball when touched. West Midland ones don't.
