New wardrobe doors

We've recently moved into a new house and are not in a position to do a full refresh, but I'd love to find a way of making reasonably priced changes to my daughters' room. My eldest has asked that we change her very traditional fitted wardrobe doors. This feels like a great solution....but I have no clue how much it would cost (and I don't want to replace very old but sturdy ones with really cheap ones). Has anyone done this? I'd be grateful for any recommendations / advice please. We're not very handy ourselves.

Watching as we need to do ours but they are an odd size so were obviously made to measure.

Would a sliding door kit and decent handyman to fit them be an option for you?

Could you paint them and add new handles?

Photo?

We've just replaced wardrobe doors. We went to Totem Timber and got MDF cut to size and then painted with Zimmer paint and top coats of Furniture paint. They look great, really pleased with them. Just need to decide on handles now.

Hi, terrible photo attached. Any thoughts gratefully received. She’s adamant she hates the doors themselves.

I see your dilemma OP.
They look in excellent condition and give loads of storage, but I can see that they wouldn't be what a young woman would choose.
Nothing helpful to add, sorry.

I think they would look ok painted and with new handles as long as you got rid of the Dickensian sweet shop bit in the middle. I'd get a joiner in to replace those doors in the middle only and paint the rest.

You could look on the Frenchic Facebook site for inspiration.

If you are on Facebook there is a Frenchic fan page. From there go on topics and then wardrobe.

There are a fair few with before and after pictures. This is the first one in the wardrobe topic.

I would take the middle doors off and have open shelves, paint the whole lot and get new handles. It won't be perfect, but on a budget will look a lot better.

Oh yes open shelves is a really good idea.

These are great ideas. Thank you so much
Would never have got there myself - I love this site!
