Dilemma on replacing existing floor standing convential boiler with a Combi boiler

Hi All,

We have been contemplating of replacing our floor standing boiler which is about 30 years old(but working well) with a combi boiler. This is basically so we can free up 2 airing cupboard potentially and get some much needed space.

However the boiler installers who have come over to provide us with quotations for a combi boiler have had mixed opinions with the suitability of a combi boiler for our property. Some of them say a combi boiler will just about work fine given the flow rate at the kitchen tap being measured at about 10~11 litres min. However some of them say a combi boiler is not meant for our property with the poor flow rates. One of the engineers measured the flow rate outside our property at the garden tap instead of the kitchen and said it seems to be on the lower side for a combi boiler.

I would really like to install a combi boiler, however the mixed reactions of the engineers with the suitability of a combi boiler has put me in a dilemma. Any advice is much appreciated.

We have a combi boiler and 3 showers. None of the showers are affected by taps or washing machine/toilet flush. You can just about have two showers at the same time but not a shower while you fill the bath. There was a lot of discussion over it at the time though, and the service guy is always shocked it works as well as it does. It's a Worcester Greenstar CDi.
