Bath or just a shower in main bathroom?

I'm having a house renovated, I'm looking at bathrooms and I'm drawn to just a shower.

Bathroom isn't big enough for a bath and separate shower, and there is no enough suite. Thing is I never have a bath just a shower, DD does like a bath but she said she's not bothered either way. My friend said to have a shower over a bath as it will be hard to sell if I ever move.

I think this is our forever home so should I just go for what I want, or think of the future?

I'm dreaming of a big walk in shower but

If you are planning on living there for a while do what you want.
But consider planning it out to make it very easy to retrofit a bath - I agree you would make a family house hard to sell with no bath. However if you live in a swanky penthouse, the lack of bath may make no difference to any potential purchasers many years in the future.

Ultimately do what makes you happy if you are planning on staying. I’ve just finished my bathroom and went for a shower over bath - went for a square ended bath (800 mm) with a lovely glass screen and big square shower head. Bath length is 1700 mm. It works really well. I am a total bath person though!

In the middle of a bathroom renovation. Ripped out the bath and (will) have a large, door-less walk in shower.

We put a bath in our tiny bathroom when we renovated and no one ever uses it so it's coming out to be replaced with a walk in shower.

I’ve never used my bath, my son has used it half a dozen times
It looks good though!

we installed just a shower.... noone in our house ever has a bath.

I agree that if you are planning on staying then do what you want. However if you were planning on selling in the next few years I do think it could put potential buyers off.

Do what you want. We just bought a house without a bath in the family bathroom. Yes we’ve had to put a bath in, but it’s a small thing considering the cost of the house, how many years we will live here etc.

We’ve just moved into a house that just had a shower. I rarely have baths, probably had less than 10 in the 10 years in previous house, but it is nice to have the option. A shower bath is the best of both worlds imo.

If you're planning on staying, do what suits you. A big walk-in shower is lovely. (I have a similar dilemma, but mine is complicated by the fact that I'm not at all sure that I am going to stay where I am.)

I never have a bath and much prefer a proper good shower to a shower over the bath, which I don't see as the best of both worlds but a compromise of both.Certainly a serious compromise on a good shower!

Build the bathroom for you. But in a way that someone could easily install a bath if that was their preference.

It doesn't take a genius of a house buyer to see that there is space for a bath, and that it can be installed very reasonably.

If you are planning on being there for a long time why worry about the resell value? Its likely by the time you come to sell the new owners will need to replace the bathroom anyway and they can add a bath back in then if they want.

I used the bath in our en suite loads when the house was full of teenagers, it was my space to escape too. There was a shower over it - decent size.

We moved - no teenagers now - and I insisted on a shower over the bath in the 'family' bathroom. I've used it about 3 times = other than for washing the dog. I no longer need a retreat!

Just use the walk in shower in the ensuite.

Do what you want.
