Best online kitchen planner?

Can anyone recommend a great, free online tool for planning a kitchen/diner layout?? I've tried Floor Planner but the units are really strange, the DIY Kitchens tool is glitchy with significant omissions (to be fair it's still in Beta) and the Magnet tool isn't very user friendly.

I'm just looking for something to help me plan a layout for a planned extension. At this stage I'm not looking at specific brands or styles of units, just sizes and function.

Any tips gratefully received!

The best one I've used is IKEA but following to see if anyone has any better options as IKEA has glitches and limitations too especially in anything non-standard (which is fair enough I guess being they want you to buy the IKEA standard option)

Following. I found the DIY kitchens one to be the best of a bad bunch tbh. If anyone has any better suggestions then I'd love to know.

I tried to do this and just gave up with online tools really.

We did a basic idea of what we wanted. A bank of floor to ceiling units, wall mounted ovens, island etc.

When the shops were open we went to our local Wren kitchens. We didn't plan to buy from there but they had a huge showroom. We went round and picked all the little storage bits like bin drawers etc that we liked. Got a real sense of what colours go together etc

Then we went for a design appointment with Howdens to see what was possible.

We chose them because they had a style of kitchen we liked. We'd also used them before and our old kitchen was still going strong at 10 years old. We'd been recommended other brands too but they didn't have the style we liked.

Thanks all, seems I'm not missing something then! Might have to wait for the showrooms are open.

There's a lot to be said for printing out some freeware graph paper . If you can draw your room plan to scale then you can have plenty of copies to scribble on.

@NotMeNoNo I've actually drawn the whole room to scale, but I really want to be able to add/remove all sorts of elements quickly, which is laborious with hand-drawn plans.

As a little tip. Most standard units are 600mm deep. They then come in 300,600,900,1200 widths.

That can help to work out how many units you can fit in on a wall and basic dimensions of any islands.

Ah Ok you're well advanced. I used the DIY planner for one I did last year, they have the best range of sizes of unit etc, battled through the glitches and crashes. Then drew out the final design on paper for the fitters.
